About a friend who wanted to lose weight

A friend of mine decided to go on a diet a few months ago. She said she was too fat and she didn"t look very attractive. I know she has a tendency to exaggerate. I don"t really think she was overweight, she just couldn"t wear the pair of jeans she had bought two years before. It"s true, we all might gain some weight over time, but I think she was still within norms. Anyway, she went on a rigorous diet and exercise plan. She was really determined to lose weight. I must add that Carla had never been the athletic type. Her only exercise was going to shopping centres and spending long hours there, trying on clothes and shoes. Suddenly she changed her lifestyle completely. I saw her one day at six in the morning. She was running with her lazy dashhound around the park. The dog was out of breath, but she looked really determined. I felt kind of sorry for her (and the dog) because in fact it was raining heavily that day. But Carla didn"t give up. She also took up swimming and bought a bike. Every day she did something to lose weight even if it was snowing and windy. Now, after five months, I guess she looks really fit. We went to the mountains last weekend and she didn"t look tired after long hours of hiking. But she doesn"t look thinner in any way. I won"t tell her that, of course, because she might give up her swimming classes or stop running.
